Does this sound familiar?

  • A window handle no longer operates the lock
  • A window cannot be locked shut
  • A locking mechanism feels stiff or damaged

Your door and lock matter.

Frame alignment, handle components and internal mechanisms can cause similar faults. High-level access, glazing or frame damage may require a different specialist.

What to expect.

Describe the window material and any safely visible marking. Discuss access and whether compatible components are available before agreeing work.

Do not lean out, climb onto external ledges or force a window near damaged glass.

What influences the cost?

Hardware compatibility, accessibility and the source of the fault affect the quote. Glazing and frame replacement should be discussed separately.

Service starting prices

Starting prices depend on the lock, the work and the parts required. Ask for a total quote confirming attendance, labour, parts and any applicable VAT before agreeing to the work.

Repair and specialist work is quoted after assessment. These starting amounts apply to the named services if required; they are not a fixed price for every fault.

A few useful answers.

Will a new handle fix the window?

Only if the handle is the cause. The internal mechanism and frame also need to be considered.

Do you replace broken glazing?

Glazing work is separate from window lock repairs. Tell us about any glass damage so the appropriate help can be discussed.
