1. Start with the right kind of work
Emergency door opening, changing an existing lock and installing a new lock are different services. The published starting amounts below describe those categories; they are not a promise that every door fault can be resolved for the starting amount. A shut latch, a deadlocked door and a jammed multipoint mechanism can require different assessment and work.
2. Give the details that affect the quote
Tell us your postcode, whether you are inside or outside, and whether the door is open or shut. Describe its material and what the key and handle do. Mention existing damage, a snapped key or a key left inside. Access arrangements and the time of attendance also help establish the proposed scope and current availability.
3. Confirm the total and its inclusions
The starting prices do not specify attendance, labour, parts or VAT inclusions. Ask explicitly how each is treated in your total quote before agreeing. A new cylinder and an entire multipoint strip are different parts. If door or frame repairs are needed as well, ask whether those are included and how they affect the overall cost.
4. Understand estimates and changes
Some faults cannot be diagnosed fully over the phone. Ask what an initial estimate assumes and what the technician will assess on arrival. If the inspection reveals another fault or extra parts, the change in work and price should be explained and agreed before proceeding. Discuss possible damage and how the door will be secured, rather than assuming every opening is damage-free.
5. Keep a clear record
Confirm the business carrying out the work and request an invoice describing the agreed service and parts. Ask for written details of any applicable guarantee instead of assuming a particular duration. The listed payment methods are shown below; confirm arrangements when booking. Coverage identifies the service area and does not itself confirm attendance, a booking or a final price.
